New Love
By: Jacob Blackburn

As I touch your face my heart races,
struggling to keep a constant beat.

I look downward, your soft loving eyes
radiating love intended for me.

Without thinking I reach by your side,
My hand brushes yours for this I know why.

I need your warm touch, your loving care.
I need your smile, for it is beyond compare.

You make me feel strong when in my arms.
Nothing can break me, nothing will harm.

You are close to me. I am afraid.
I don’t fully trust, trying to wait.

Being hurt before, is painful inside,
but having you near me makes me realize,

I might have missed someone so perfect,
someone so fair, I want to be with.

Now as we stand here holding each other,
all is clear, our minds thinking as one together.

Our emotions are strong, this much is true,
but is it real love, or is this just new.

Only time will tell for this tale of love,
but maybe, just maybe we will rise above.
