Release from Engagement
by: Jacob Blackburn

Wind breaks against a pane of glass,
To a window of an unknown place.
It creeps searching for a crack to slide through,
Just the thought chills my face.

Why must it blow with its icy force?
Does it see something sparkle within?
Do we let it enter the secret abode?
Or lock it sound like the strength of men?

A dilemma for the ages,
In or egress?
Keeping it sewn shut,
Or liberate with simpleness?

The answer lies in time,
To be revealed when all is safe,
For no one wishes to be cold,
No matter how warm the place.
