Untitled
By: Jacob Blackburn
It is a little awkward seeing you
in person.
After bearing our souls through a
piece of plastic.
Nervousness sets in, wondering if I
measure up.
Not knowing how to act, how to
speak, how to stand.
I don’t understand, why with you
I’m self-consious.
I want to reach for your hand,
but the fear of rejection keeps me
at bay.
I long to embrace you, in a way we
could only in a dream.
Holding you close, feeling the fast
excited beatings of our hearts.
Do I kiss you passionately on the
lips? the cheek? to forward?
To taste your full lips would be my
ambrosia.
I anticipate the sweetness that
awaits me.
Then I come down from my cloud high
above reality.
Wondering how you feel, do you see
me the same way?
Doubt sets in. Surely you
wouldn’t be here with me.
Your perfect spirit, doesn’t need
to be set free, especially by me.
You deserve the best. One that
appreciates you completely,
Someone in tune with your needs and
desires,
Maybe I am that person, with whom
you can share.
Am I that lucky? I sure hope so.
You’re rare.
You are not as trivial as a prize
to be won,
but an honor to whom I share your
presence.
When will you trust me? When will
you care?
Patience is a virtue, I wasn’t
ever given.
I’m trying hard, not to rush
things,
for we both know better.
With these final thoughts I think I
will end,
my poetic thoughts done for the
eve.
Know that I like you. Know that I
care.
You can trust me completely. This
in time you will see.
Whatever the reason you decided to
talk to me, I am grateful.
Just knowing you exist, makes me
hopeful,
that one day you will choose me to
be by your side.
To come to for advice, to come to
for strength,
to come to for love, and a soft
embrace.
For these reasons and others I will
look to you.
Just let me know the real you and I
won’t hide me.
Then one day, we will both be
lucky. We will have found each other.
